The Education Department held a district-level marathon review meeting at DIET Gumla to assess the implementation of various academic activities and improve the district’s educational indicators.

The meeting was chaired by District Education Officer Kavita Khalkho, with District Social Welfare Officer Aarti Kumari attending as a special guest. Representatives of the Welfare Department and Piramal Foundation also participated.

The meeting was attended by Jharkhand Education Project Gumla ADPO Jyoti Khalkho, Block Education Officers, Assistant Programme Officers, Block Programme Officers, field managers, BRPs, CRPs, accountants and MIS coordinators.

Following directions from the Gumla Deputy Commissioner, special emphasis was placed on monitoring student and teacher attendance in schools. Officials were instructed to ensure regular and effective monitoring, with attendance being treated as a key indicator of school performance.

The DEO directed schools to record teachers’ attendance twice a day and ensure that students’ attendance is entered online every day without delay. Officials were told to complete all required entries within the prescribed time.

During the review of scholarship schemes, DEO Kavita Khalkho and DSWO Aarti Kumari instructed officials to ensure that details of all eligible students are entered on the relevant portals.

Under the Savitribai Phule Scholarship Scheme, eligible girls studying in Classes 8 to 12 are to be covered, while the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is applicable to eligible SC, ST and OBC boys and girls from Classes 1 to 10. Officials were directed to clear any pending cases at the earliest.

The meeting also reviewed several academic and administrative indicators. ADPO Jyoti Khalkho instructed officials to ensure mandatory entries relating to UDISE, APAAR IDs and Student PEN numbers, along with Aadhaar registration, updating and validation.

Officials were also directed to ensure timely updates on the e-Vidyavahini portal and effective implementation of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, reconstitution of School Management Committees, Prashast App-related activities, rail tests and the split syllabus.

DEO Kavita Khalkho stressed that compliance with district-level instructions should not be limited to completing online entries or meeting portal targets.

She said the real impact of these measures should be visible at the school level through improved student attendance, better learning outcomes, a stronger academic environment and effective delivery of government schemes to eligible beneficiaries.

The review meeting therefore focused not only on data and digital compliance but also on ensuring that administrative monitoring translates into measurable improvements in classroom learning and student welfare across Gumla district.
