A weekly public grievance redressal day was organised at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahto, where residents from different blocks of Gumla district brought forward their personal grievances and issues concerning the public.
The Deputy Commissioner heard the applicants and directed the concerned officials to examine each complaint in accordance with the applicable rules and take prompt and time-bound action based on eligibility and existing provisions.
Several issues were brought before the Deputy Commissioner during the grievance hearing. These included disruption of teaching due to the deputation of teachers at a school, compassionate appointment for the dependent of a person killed in extremist violence, removal of encroachments and a toilet-related issue in Ghaghra, repair of the market shed and construction of a drain in Bishunpur, and a land dispute and alleged encroachment case in Palkot.
Mahto instructed the concerned departments and officials to verify the facts in each case and take appropriate action as per the rules.
Applicants from various blocks also submitted complaints related to land disputes, correction of revenue records, social security pensions, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, drinking water and electricity supply, road construction, education and healthcare services.
Requests concerning the issuance of caste, income and residential certificates, employment, compensation payments and other matters related to public welfare were also received during the programme.
The Deputy Commissioner said the weekly grievance redressal day provided an effective platform for direct communication between residents and the district administration.
He said ensuring fair, transparent and time-bound disposal of complaints was among the administration’s priorities. Officials were instructed to avoid unnecessary delays in resolving grievances and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive government schemes and services according to the prescribed rules.
Mahto further directed all concerned officers to examine complaints seriously and take appropriate action while making every possible effort to resolve the problems faced by applicants.
District-level officials from various departments and other concerned officers were present during the grievance redressal programme.
The initiative is aimed at bringing the district administration closer to residents and providing people with a direct channel to raise issues that may otherwise take considerable time to reach the appropriate authorities.
