
Jamshedpur: Tata Steel’s robust financial performance in FY26 has translated into higher rewards for its senior leadership, with Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director T.V. Narendran receiving total remuneration of Rs 20.66 crore during the year.
According to the company’s annual report, Narendran’s compensation package included a fixed pay of Rs 5.66 crore, comprising a basic salary of Rs 2.34 crore and allowances and perquisites worth Rs 3.22 crore. The significant increase in his earnings was driven by a performance-linked commission of Rs 15 crore approved by the Board, reflecting the company’s strong operational and financial achievements.
Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer Koushik Chatterjee also benefited from the company’s stellar performance, earning a total remuneration of Rs 16.39 crore, including a performance-based commission of Rs 10.50 crore.
The enhanced payouts came in a year marked by strong business momentum for Tata Steel. The steel major reported consolidated revenue of Rs 2.32 lakh crore, while net profit more than tripled to exceed Rs 10,793 crore, underscoring a remarkable improvement in profitability and operational efficiency.
The annual report also highlighted the commitment of the company’s top executives, noting that both Narendran and Chatterjee attended all six Board meetings held during the financial year.In contrast, Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran chose not to accept any commission, adhering to the group’s governance framework.
He received only the prescribed sitting fees for attending Board meetings.The rise in executive compensation reflects Tata Steel’s performance-driven remuneration philosophy, linking leadership rewards closely with shareholder value creation and business success.
