Karni Sena Leader Himanshu Singh Murder: Two More Held, Police Arrest All 16 Accused

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Police on Wednesday arrested two more people in connection with the murder of Karni Sena youth leader Himanshu Singh, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 16. Officials said the investigation is nearly complete and the chargesheet will be filed before the court soon.

Police have also recovered a scooter that was allegedly used to help the main accused flee after the murder.

City Superintendent of Police (SP) Lalit Kumar Meena identified the two arrested men as Raghavendra Kumar alias Ravindra Kumar alias "Ghere" (40) and Ganesh Machhua (34).

According to the police, the TVS Activa scooter was recovered based on information provided during interrogation. Investigators believe it was used to transport and conceal the prime accused after the crime, helping them escape from the area.

Himanshu Singh was attacked with sharp-edged weapons outside the Double Down (DD) Bar in Jamshedpur's Bistupur area on the night of June 27. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed during treatment. Following the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case.

The SIT carried out multiple raids using CCTV footage, technical evidence and intelligence inputs. During the investigation, police found that Ganesh Machhua had allegedly provided shelter to the main accused and assisted Vishwanath Mandal alias "Bodra", Rahul Dubey and Raghavendra alias "Ghere" in escaping after the murder.

The prime accused, Vishwanath Mandal alias "Bodra", who had a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his arrest, surrendered before a Jamshedpur court a few days ago.

Earlier, police had arrested several other accused in the case, including Double Down Bar owner Neeraj Singh. During the investigation, officers also recovered several sharp-edged weapons, including choppers, axes and knives.

Police said Ganesh Machhua has a criminal history and had previously been jailed in two cases related to the illegal liquor trade.

According to City SP Meena, all 16 accused linked to the murder are now in police custody. The investigation has entered its final phase, and the chargesheet is expected to be submitted before the court shortly.
