
Mumbai: Hollywood action star Jason Statham's upcoming thriller ‘Mutiny’, directed by Jean-Francois Richet, is set to arrive in cinemas across India on August 21.
The film follows a man who is framed for a crime he did not commit and is drawn into a dangerous conspiracy. As he races to clear his name, he must outsmart powerful adversaries and fight to stay alive in a relentless battle where every decision could prove fatal.
Alongside Statham, the film stars Annabelle Wallis and Jason Wong. ‘Mutiny’ will be released in India by PVR INOX Pictures.
Statham has built a reputation as one of Hollywood's leading action stars, known for portraying tough, fearless characters in high-intensity thrillers. His work played a key role in reviving the popularity of action films during the 2000s and 2010s.
Before entering films, Statham trained in Chinese martial arts, kickboxing and karate. He was also a competitive diver and an enthusiastic footballer.
He first gained recognition with Guy Ritchie's crime dramas ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ and ‘Snatch’, before appearing in Hollywood productions such as ‘Turn It Up’, ‘Ghosts of Mars’ and ‘The One’.
His breakthrough as a global action icon came with the ‘Transporter’ franchise, followed by notable performances in films including ‘The Italian Job’, ‘Crank’, ‘The Bank Job’, ‘The Mechanic’, ‘Homefront’, ‘Mechanic: Resurrection’, ‘The Meg’, ‘Wrath of Man’, ‘Meg 2: The Trench’ and ‘The Beekeeper’.
Statham is also widely recognised for playing mercenary Lee Christmas in ‘The Expendables’ film series.
He was last seen in the action thriller ‘Shelter’, where he portrayed a former British government assassin living in seclusion off the coast of Scotland, only to be pulled back into a violent conflict while protecting a young girl from the agency determined to eliminate him.
