Passenger Vehicle Dispatches Jump 24% in June as Auto Sales Maintain Strong Momentum: SIAM

New Delhi: India's automobile industry continued its strong growth trajectory in June, with domestic passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers rising 24.1 per cent year-on-year to 3,88,144 units, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Wednesday.

Passenger vehicle dispatches stood at 3,12,851 units in June last year, reflecting robust demand across the domestic market.

Utility vehicles remained the biggest growth driver in the passenger vehicle segment, with dispatches increasing 19.9 per cent to 2,17,228 units. Passenger car sales rose 15.7 per cent to 98,610 units, while van sales registered a 9.5 per cent increase to 10,230 units.

The two-wheeler segment also posted healthy gains, with dispatches rising 18.6 per cent year-on-year to 18,51,400 units from 15,61,283 units in the corresponding month last year.

Scooters recorded the strongest growth among two-wheelers, with sales surging 39.1 per cent to 7,44,823 units. Motorcycle sales increased 6.4 per cent to 10,56,422 units, while moped sales climbed 50.4 per cent to 50,155 units, albeit on a lower base.

Three-wheeler dispatches also witnessed robust growth, rising 26.1 per cent to 77,951 units compared to 61,828 units in June 2025.

Within the category, passenger carrier sales grew 25 per cent to 64,181 units, while goods carrier sales rose 29.4 per cent to 11,828 units. Electric three-wheelers continued to gain traction, with e-rickshaw sales jumping 52.4 per cent to 1,590 units.

The strong June performance follows a record-breaking May, when the Indian automobile industry registered its highest-ever sales for the month across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers, underscoring sustained consumer demand.

Exports also remained on a strong footing during June. Overall vehicle exports increased 34 per cent year-on-year to 6,73,105 units, driven primarily by a 40.2 per cent rise in two-wheeler exports to 5,43,684 units.

Three-wheeler exports climbed 39.7 per cent to 51,950 units, while passenger vehicle exports remained broadly stable at 76,601 units.
