
Gumla: Gumla Polytechnic College commemorated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability. The event aimed to sensitize students about the importance of environmental conservation and to encourage responsible actions for a greener and healthier future.
The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr. Shiba Narayan Sahu and Ajeet Kumar Shukla, Head Administrative Officer, marking the formal inauguration of the event.
A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation highlighting the significance of World Environment Day, environmental challenges, and sustainable practices was delivered by Mr. Subham Jha, Head of the Department of Basic Science and Humanities (BSH). His presentation addressed pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable lifestyles.
In his address, Principal Dr. Shiba Narayan Sahu stressed the need for environmental stewardship and encouraged students to become responsible citizens actively contributing to environmental protection.
The event was further enriched by the online participation of Shri Abhijit Kumar, Director, who conveyed a message on the importance of environmental conservation. He appreciated the efforts of faculty members and students in organizing and participating in activities that promote environmental awareness.
To mark the occasion, a series of competitions—including a General Knowledge Competition, Drawing Competition, and Speech Competition—were organized to encourage students to express their ideas and understanding of environmental issues.
The winners were felicitated with medals and certificates during a prize distribution ceremony.
