No Government School Should Depend on a Single Teacher: Hemant Soren Reviews Education Reforms in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Reviewing the progress of the School Education and Literacy Department on Tuesday, Hemant Soren directed officials to ensure that no school in Jharkhand operates with just one teacher and asked the department to speed up the expansion of CM Schools of Excellence across the state.

The review meeting was held at the Jharkhand Ministry, where the Chief Minister assessed various education-related schemes, infrastructure projects, and facilities being provided to students in government schools.

Hemant Soren said the state government remains committed to ensuring quality education for every child, especially in rural and remote areas. He instructed officials to implement all educational schemes effectively and transparently so that benefits reach students without delay.

He said the state has witnessed steady improvement in examination results in government schools and stressed the need to further strengthen teacher training and academic standards. He also ordered faster recruitment to fill all vacant teaching posts and directed officials to complete verification work for newly recruited teachers by the end of the month to facilitate timely salary disbursement.

Dropout Rate Declining in Jharkhand

Officials informed the Chief Minister that dropout cases in primary and secondary education are continuously declining and that Jharkhand’s performance is now better than the national average.

Special drives are being conducted to enrol dropout students again, while coordination with the Labour Department is helping identify children involved in labour or other activities who are deprived of education.

The Chief Minister directed officials to provide internet connectivity and improve ICT labs in all government schools. He also instructed the department to identify schools with weak academic performance and improve facilities, staffing, and educational systems there.

5,000 CM Schools of Excellence Planned Across State

Hemant Soren asked officials to expedite the plan to increase the number of CM School of Excellence institutions to 5,000 so that quality education becomes accessible in every panchayat.

He said that within six to eight months, the government must ensure that no school is dependent on a single teacher. He suggested involving educated local youths and qualified girls through school management committees to address teacher shortages in remote areas.

The Chief Minister also instructed the department to ensure uniform teaching standards in all government schools and start a pilot transport facility for students. He further called for extensive tree plantation drives across school campuses.

Better Facilities for Underprivileged Students

Hemant Soren directed officials to strengthen facilities and educational standards in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools for underprivileged children. Officials informed him that 26 such schools are currently operating in Jharkhand and providing free education and residential facilities to nearly 4,000 students.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of sports in schools and directed officials to identify talented athletes among students and encourage them for higher-level competitions.
