Delhi Cyber Police nab two Jharkhand men in Rs 10.52 lakh online fraud case

New Delhi- A team from the Cyber Police Station of Delhi Police’s North-East District has cracked an online fraud case involving Rs 10.52 lakh and arrested two accused from Jharkhand.

The case came to light after a complaint was filed by 65-year-old Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Meet Nagar in Delhi. He told police that on April 25, he received a WhatsApp call from an unidentified person claiming that the KYC details linked to his bank accounts needed to be updated. The caller allegedly asked him to download a file, after which Rs 10,52,938 was fraudulently withdrawn from his bank accounts through unauthorised transactions.

Based on the complaint, an E-FIR (No. 00095/26 dated April 26, 2026) was registered at the Cyber Police Station, North-East District, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, a police team led by Inspector Rahul Kumar, SHO Cyber NE, under the supervision of ACP OPS/NED Satyendra Kumar Singh, gathered technical and digital evidence from multiple sources.

Acting on the leads, police traced and arrested one accused from Jharkhand. He was identified as 20-year-old Amarnath Rabidas, a resident of Dhanbad district. Three mobile phones were recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, Amarnath allegedly revealed the involvement of his associate, leading to the arrest of another accused, 21-year-old Bikash Rabidas. Police recovered one more mobile phone from him.

Investigators said both accused admitted to carrying out the fraud using malicious APK files. The probe further revealed that the defrauded money was routed through multiple bank accounts, while part of the amount was withdrawn through ATMs by the accused.

Police said Rs 2.05 lakh of the cheated amount has been frozen in another bank account. Officials also found five other NCRP complaints linked to the mobile phones recovered from the accused. Further investigation is underway.
