Demand raised to start Intermediate classes for the benefit of girl students in Deoghar

Deoghar: A demand has been made to start Intermediate (10+2) classes at St. Mary’s Girls High School located in Ward No. 19 of Deoghar town. In this connection, Deoghar Mayor Ravi Kumar Raut has written to the Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, Jharkhand, requesting approval to introduce Plus Two education from the upcoming academic session.According to the letter, St. Mary’s Girls High School is one of the oldest and most reputed girls’ schools in the area. At present, the school offers education only up to Class 10. Every year, a large number of students pass the matriculation examination from the institution, but due to the shortage of Plus Two schools in the region, many girls face difficulties in continuing higher studies. The letter stated that students from economically weaker families are the most affected. Many talented girls are forced to discontinue their education because of the lack of nearby higher secondary institutions.
The Mayor also mentioned that the school is situated in the middle of the town, making it a safe and convenient place for girl students. He added that the school already has adequate infrastructure and sufficient building facilities, making it suitable for starting Science, Arts and Commerce streams.Appealing in the interest of public welfare and women empowerment, the Mayor requested the department to grant necessary approval and directions so that Intermediate education can begin at the school from the next academic session.
