Chamber, GAIL Hold Joint Camp to Accelerate PNG Expansion in Ranchi

Ranchi: In a bid to speed up the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) services, Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries, in collaboration with GAIL India Limited, organised a one-day camp at the Chamber ???.

A detailed ???? was also held with GAIL officials to discuss the progress and future roadmap of PNG expansion in Ranchi. During the interaction, several members expressed willingness to apply for PNG connections. It was also agreed that regular meetings between the Chamber and GAIL would be held every 15–20 days to ensure faster implementation of the project.

GAIL officials assured that PNG connections would be installed on a priority basis in areas identified through the list provided by the Chamber. The company aims to provide around 8,000 connections per month. Currently, work is underway at nearly 20 locations in Ranchi, with a target to complete coverage across the city within the next six months.

However, officials pointed out challenges such as delays in obtaining permissions from various departments for pipeline laying and occasional resistance from local residents, which have slowed progress in some areas. They also suggested implementing a City Gas Distribution policy in Ranchi on the lines of Varanasi and Bhubaneswar to streamline the process.

It was further informed that a registration camp will be organised this Sunday at Shahdev Tower in PP Compound for society residents. At present, 28 CNG stations are operational in Ranchi, benefiting the public. For commercial and industrial PNG connections, applicants can contact 9958435495.

Chamber Vice President Praveen Lohiya stressed the importance of PNG and urged that applicants whose requests are being rejected should be informed of the reasons promptly to help resolve issues. General Secretary Rohit Agarwal said efforts would be made to coordinate with departments to expedite the work.

Joint Secretary Navjot Alang noted growing enthusiasm among members for PNG connections, while Sub-Committee Chairman Jaswinder Singh expressed confidence that regular coordination would help overcome challenges and ensure rapid expansion of the scheme.

Several Chamber members and GAIL officials were present during the meeting.
