Jamshedpur: Panic gripped the Adityapur area on Saturday afternoon after two bike-borne assailants opened fire at a shop on the Chuna Bhatta Main Road. The incident occurred around 1:45 pm at Sanjay Electronic Battery, where a youth identified as Ravi was present at the time of the attack.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants targeted Ravi and fired four rounds in quick succession. Miraculously, he escaped unharmed despite the sudden burst of gunfire.
The brazen attack in broad daylight triggered fear among shopkeepers and residents in the busy locality. Soon after receiving information about the incident, Adityapur police station in-charge Vinod Tirkey rushed to the spot with a team and began an investigation.
During the inspection, police recovered four empty cartridges from the scene, including one found inside the shop premises. Shop owner Sanjay Kumar alleged that the firing was the fallout of an ongoing dispute.
He claimed that a resident of Adityapur-2, identified as Rishi, had called him on Friday night and threatened to kill him. According to Kumar, the conflict began on December 19 over the making of an inverter.
Tensions escalated further on March 9 when Rishi, along with two associates Aman and Sanu — allegedly assaulted his son at Hariom Nagar. A complaint regarding that incident had already been lodged with the police.
Police officials said an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the accused at the earliest.
