Jharkhand–Hitachi Explore Strategic Collaboration in Power, Transmission and Advanced Infrastructure

Davos / Ranchi: On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the official delegation of the Government of Jharkhand, led by Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, held a high-level meeting with Mr. Bharat Kaushal, Regional Head, Hitachi, along with senior company representatives. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in power systems, power transmission technologies, advanced infrastructure, and skill development.

Hitachi representatives highlighted the company’s strong technological capabilities, noting that Hitachi currently manages power systems for nine operational metro rail networks across India. They also shared information about Hitachi’s dedicated digital dashboard for power electronics and mentioned the company’s existing centre in Dhanbad, underscoring its ongoing engagement with Jharkhand.

During the interaction, Mr. Bharat Kaushal formally invited the Chief Minister to visit Hitachi’s manufacturing facility. It was proposed that joint meetings be organized during February–March with Hitachi’s manufacturing units in India and Jharkhand, along with other Japanese companies, to deliberate on both short-term and long-term projects and identify concrete areas for collaboration.

The issue of land constraints in power transmission projects was also discussed. Hitachi informed the delegation about its advanced technologies that significantly reduce land requirements while enabling efficient power transmission, and expressed readiness to deploy these solutions in Jharkhand to strengthen the state’s energy infrastructure.

Discussions further covered heavy vehicle–related sectors, including a proposal to establish a high-skill heavy vehicle training institute in Jharkhand. The initiative aims to develop advanced technical skills among youth and enhance employment opportunities.

Welcoming the proposals, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren reiterated the state government’s commitment to expanding global technology partnerships in energy, infrastructure, and skill development to ensure sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready growth.

The meeting is being seen as a significant step toward enhancing energy security, modernizing power transmission systems, and building a highly skilled workforce in Jharkhand.
