Government has done what it has promised to people, will not hesitate to take strong decisions in larger public interest: Governor

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan said that the state government has done what it has promised to the people and will not hesitate to take strong decisions and implement them in larger public interest. In his maiden address to the legislators during the inaugural day of Budget Session of Jharkhand Assembly he said that if there is a passion to take the state forward and if policy decisions are taken with foresight and understanding and with good and honest intentions then the dream of a strong and developed Jharkhand can be turned into a reality and with this mantra and goal the state government is working with the spirit of service of the common people and its results are clearly visible on the ground. 

The Governor said that a meeting of the representatives of G-20 countries is scheduled on 2nd and 3rd March 2023 at the state capital of Ranchi and Patratu. Apart from 80 international and Indian delegates from G-20 member countries, 40 other delegates will participate in the event.

The theme of Clean and Green Energy will be discussed extensively in this global meet under the leadership of Department of Science and Technology Government of India and he said that he was sure that this will help Jharkhand to establish its identity not only at the national level but also at the international level. He said that the real meaning of democracy is ‘governance of the people for the people and by the people and the state government has truly epitomized this.

He said that the government has set a unique example of ensuring synergy of people and system in the functioning of the government by bringing in public participation in policy making and their implementation as well as in the monitoring of governmental schemes. The Governor said that the state government is a government of public service and totally committed to the poor deprived exploited tribals dalits backwards minorities elderly youth women labourers and farmers.

He said that it is the priority of the state government to ensure that all sections of the society get their due in course of their all round development. The state government is committed to the development of Jharkhand by promoting its identity, culture language and heritage.. He said that even during the tough phase of Covid pandemic, the economy of Jharkhand remained on a robust footing and the Hemant Soren government successfully tackled the pandemic. It was due to the sensitivity and strong decision-making of the State Government, which considers public interest paramount, that the third wave of Corona was prevented from creating havoc in Jharkhand, he said.

The Governor said that while, on the one hand the state government took all possible measures to control corona infection, it also took steps on the other hand by which the economy was also not allowed to derail. The government worked tirelessly for COVID prevention, COVID-friendly behaviour and hospital management, but also ensured livelihood for the poor, education of children, employment of youth, and extension of development works and public welfare schemes, he added.

He said that in the financial year 2020-21, when the economic growth rate of the whole country was minus 6.6 percent, the economic growth rate of Jharkhand was minus 5.5 percent. The economic growth rate in FY 2021-22 has been 8.2 percent. During the Corona epidemic, the per capita income in Jharkhand was Rs. 71,071 in FY 2020-2 which increased to Rs. 78,660 in 2021-22. These figures indicate that Jharkhand has the potential to scale new heights of success even in adverse circumstances. 

Terming agriculture and farmers as important pillars of the economy, he said that in the last decade, farmers were caught in a vicious cycle of debt due to several reasons like increasing expenditure on agriculture and drought etc. He said that to ease the burden of debt the state government launched the loan waiver Scheme Krishi Rin Mafi Yojna.
