APEDA organizes Capacity Development Program at BAU

Ranchi: Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India is celebrated its 37th foundation day on Monday by organising Capacity Development Programs for the FPOs / FPCs/ Farmers / Women Entrepreneurs / Exporters / Start-ups, etc on Pan India basis.

APEDA Regional Office (Eastern Region) celebrated this foundation day by organising programs at Koraput and Dhenkanal of Odisha and at Ranchi of Jharkhand. Considering the agri-export potential of Jharkhand, several such programs have already been organised in the past two years.

Soon after the declaration of the International Year of Millet 2023 and India securing its presidency of G20, APEDA is entrusted by the Government of India in spearheading the export promotion of Millet, GI, Ethnic, Organic and Indigenous products from India. Special emphasis has been given to Natural Farming and Tribal products. Considering the potentiality of Agri and Forest produce in the area, the focus is to bring the product to international markets.

Nearly 5,000,000 MT of vegetables are produced in Jharkhand which is 6 percent of the country’s total production of vegetables. There is huge scope to develop the sector. The program was graced by the presence of Vice Chancellor, Dean & other experts – Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, Business Development Manager(Eastern Region) – APEDA, CEO-OFAJ, SPDJTDS, Special Secretary cum Advisor – Dept. of Agriculture Animal Husbandry & Cooperative, Joint Director- MSME, In-charge-DMI, District Agriculture Officer, AGM-NABARD etc.

Around 70 representatives of FPCs, FPOs, progressive farmers, manufacturers of processed food products and APEDA-registered exporters were present in the programme. During the meeting, the deliberations were made by the participants over the export potentiality of Forest produce, millet and other agri products.

The provision for the market linkages to develop export and quality protocols demanded in the international market and packaging requirements was discussed in detail.
