Lalu seeks passport from court to visit Singapore for kidney transplantation

Ranchi: Former Bihar chief minister and the RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav has requested the special CBI court to release his passport so that he can visit abroad for kidney transplantation. He has filed a petition before a special CBI court in Ranchi through his lawyer Prabhat Kumar.

The lawyer said that Lalu Prasad Yadav who is currently on bail in fodder scam cases is most likely to visit Singapore for kidney transplantation. The lawyer informed that he has started the necessary process to seek an appointment with the doctor. “But he needs to renew his passport for which he has applied to the court for the release of the same. My client will deposit the passport once he returns after treatment,” said the lawyer.

He informed that once doctors confirm the appointment, Lalu Prasad will file a fresh petition to seek permission from the court to visit abroad on medical grounds.

He said that the petition for the release of the passport was filed on May 31 and the hearing is scheduled for June 10. Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in five cases of fodder scam and he is on bail in all five cases. Recently, the CBI had raided his premises in connection with the railway recruitment scam.

Most recently Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in a fodder scam case RC 47 A/96 related to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.35 Crores from Doranda treasury of Ranchi during 1995-96.
