Three Tiger Cubs Born at Tata Steel Zoological Park in Jamshedpur; Public Invited to Suggest Names

Jamshedpur, October 14, 2026: Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) in Jamshedpur has welcomed three tiger cubs, comprising two females and one male, bringing joy to the zoo and wildlife enthusiasts. The cubs were born to tigress Sunaina on the morning of September 23, 2026. Their father, Rudra, was brought to the zoo from the Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur.

The zoo announced the birth after completing the initial care and monitoring period in accordance with established protocols.

Sunaina, who has become a mother for the first time, accidentally injured one of the female cubs. The zoo's veterinary team promptly treated the cub and stitched the wound. Since then, her condition has been improving. She currently weighs approximately 1.8 kg and is out of danger, although veterinarians continue to monitor her health closely.

The other two cubs are reported to be healthy. The male cub weighs around 2.9 kg, while the second female cub weighs approximately 2.53 kg.

Veterinarians are keeping a close watch on all three cubs, while CCTV cameras are being used to monitor their movements and activities. The zoo has put the necessary precautions in place to ensure their health, safety and well-being.

The zoo hopes that residents of Jamshedpur will participate enthusiastically in naming the newest members of its tiger family. The initiative aims to bring the community closer to wildlife conservation while allowing people to become part of this special moment at the zoological park.
