Sai Tamhankar Calls It a ‘Golden Phase’ for Talent-Driven Actors

Mumbai — Actress Sai Tamhankar believes the entertainment industry is undergoing a meaningful transformation, where talent and authenticity are finally taking centre stage. Calling it “a very good era for actors like me,” she says the changing landscape has opened up exciting opportunities.

Speaking about the shift, Sai noted that traditional formulas and rigid success patterns are no longer reliable. According to her, audiences today are more receptive to fresh storytelling and performances rooted in craft rather than conventional stardom.

She highlighted that actors who are sincere about their work are now being recognised for their abilities. “If you truly understand your craft and stay honest to it, people notice—and that honesty connects,” she explained, adding that this evolution makes the current phase especially rewarding.

Sai also expressed her admiration for fellow actors like Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat, noting that performers known for their strong acting skills are finally getting the recognition they deserve. She said she feels proud to be part of this era where such talent is being celebrated.

Her latest project, the series Matka King, features a strong ensemble cast including Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Siddharth Jadhav, and Gulshan Grover.

Set in 1960s Mumbai, the show follows the journey of a modest cotton trader who rises to power in the gambling world by introducing the game of Matka—reshaping a system once dominated by the elite.

Sai began her career in Marathi television with shows like Tuzyavina and Ya Gojirvanya Gharat, later appearing in Hindi serials such as Kasturi and Anubandh. She made her Bollywood debut with small roles in films like Black & White and Ghajini, gradually carving a space for herself through consistent performances.
