Mumbai: Actor Rajpal Yadav has addressed the recent controversy surrounding his alleged humiliation at an award ceremony, clarifying that the moment was scripted and part of a planned act.
The actor, who is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, took to Instagram to share a video message, urging fans not to target the show’s hosts Saurabh Dwivedi and Zakir Khan over the incident.
Speaking candidly, Rajpal explained that the segment was designed as a skit during the award function, which featured performances, music, and comic acts. He noted that sometimes the intended meaning of such performances doesn’t reach the audience correctly, leading to misunderstandings.
He also highlighted that the act touched upon global issues like wars and economic instability, aiming to present them in a creative format. However, he acknowledged that the message may not have been conveyed as intended.
Calling Saurabh Dwivedi and Zakir Khan “like younger brothers,” the actor emphasised that they have always respected him. He further revealed that Saurabh had, in fact, encouraged the audience to applaud his work during the event.
Rajpal made an emotional appeal to his followers, asking them not to criticise or hurt the hosts, stating that any negativity directed towards them would also hurt him. He expressed his affection for both Saurabh and Zakir, and thanked his fans for their continued support.
The clarification puts to rest speculation around the incident, with the actor reaffirming that there was no disrespect involved—only a misunderstood performance.
