Actors Janhvi Kapoor, Sreeleela and Siddharth Gupta have begun shooting for their upcoming untitled romantic thriller, with the first schedule currently underway in Nainital.
Directed by Umesh Bisht, known for projects such as ‘Pagglait’, ‘The Trial’ Season 2 and ‘Gyaarah Gyaarah’, the film revolves around two women who become obsessed with the same man, setting the stage for a story of complicated relationships, desire and emotional conflict.
A source close to the project confirmed that filming had commenced as planned, with the team beginning its first schedule in the Uttarakhand hill town.
“The team has commenced the first shooting schedule in Nainital, and there is a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the project. With Siddharth Gupta, Sreeleela and Janhvi Kapoor coming together for this thriller, it is an exciting combination to look forward to. The team is now focused on bringing the story to life, and the shoot has officially begun as planned,” the source said.
The film is backed by producers Ektaa Kapoor and Guneet Monga Kapoor. Although the title and details of the characters remain undisclosed, the project is expected to explore the darker and more complex dimensions of romance and relationships.
Meanwhile, Janhvi recently spoke out against the circulation of an AI-generated deepfake video featuring sexually explicit content involving her. The clip, which used visuals from her film ‘Devara’, in which she starred opposite NTR Jr., circulated on social media and sparked concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create non-consensual content.
Reacting to the incident, the actress shared a strongly worded statement on Instagram Stories, condemning the creation and distribution of such material and highlighting the importance of consent.
“The criminal misuse of technology to objectify women and circulate fictionalised content without consent is deeply violating, bordering on sexual assault,” she wrote, adding that women across the entertainment industry and beyond were increasingly facing similar violations.
Janhvi also stressed that consent, choice and respect for a woman's body should be fundamental principles, arguing that a person's refusal must be respected regardless of their previous decisions.
Her remarks have renewed attention on the challenges posed by AI-generated deepfakes, particularly the use of digital tools to produce sexually explicit material without an individual's permission.
