Persistent rain threatens to disrupt the fifth and final T20I between India and the West Indies at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, potentially dampening hopes of another high-scoring contest in a series that has witnessed extraordinary batting performances.

The weather turned wet in Bengaluru on Friday, with heavy showers raising concerns over waterlogging. Forecasts suggest that unsettled conditions could continue through the weekend, putting the series decider at risk.

According to AccuWeather, Bengaluru faces a 90 per cent chance of precipitation on Saturday. The likelihood of rain is expected to increase through the afternoon, potentially affecting preparations and delaying the start of the match.

The hourly forecast indicates an 11 per cent chance of rain at noon, rising to 34 per cent by 2 p.m. The probability is expected to reach 40 per cent at 3 p.m. before climbing sharply to 68 per cent at 4 p.m. and 71 per cent at 5 p.m.

Rain remains a concern around the scheduled 7 p.m. start, with the forecast indicating a 49 per cent chance of precipitation at 6 p.m., rising to 64 per cent at 7 p.m. The probability is expected to remain at 49 per cent over the following two hours, increase to 56 per cent at 10 p.m. and ease to 49 per cent by 11 p.m.

With the five-match series level at 2-2, Saturday's encounter will determine the winner, provided the weather allows sufficient play. A washout could leave the series without a decisive result, depending on the applicable match regulations.

The series has been marked by explosive batting and imposing totals. India chased down a target of 172 in the opening match in Lucknow, but the West Indies responded in the second T20I in Ranchi by successfully chasing a formidable 250.

India regained the advantage in the third match in Indore, defending 223 to secure a 14-run victory. However, the West Indies levelled the series in Hyderabad, chasing the momentum with another powerful batting display before restricting India to a 24-run defeat while defending 248.

Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is renowned for its batting-friendly conditions and relatively short boundaries, which have frequently contributed to high-scoring encounters in the Indian Premier League. If the rain stays away, the venue could provide the setting for another run-filled contest.

For now, however, the weather remains the biggest concern for both teams, with fans hoping that the series reaches a fitting conclusion on the field rather than being decided by the rain.
