Rukmini Vasanth on being cast in Kantara: Chapter 1: “I wanted to shout it from the rooftops”

Mumbai: Actress Rukmini Vasanth, known for her work across Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu cinema, has joined the cast of the highly anticipated film Kantara: Chapter 1. For her, the moment feels nothing short of a dream come true.

Rukmini, who won acclaim for her nuanced performance in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, is now set to step into the ever-expanding Kantara universe.

Recalling how the opportunity came her way, she shared:
“I was approached for this film early last year. That’s when I first met Rishab sir, and he narrated the story to me. He was incredibly kind and asked if I’d like to be part of the project. Honestly, it was a complete dream come true.”

The actress revealed that director Rishab Shetty had praised her performance in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which made this casting feel even more meaningful.
“He has always been very kind to me since Sapta released. At the premiere, he said some extremely generous things about my work, which meant a lot. So for him to value my craft and offer me a role in such a hugely awaited film—it felt truly special.”

But while the news brought her immense joy, Rukmini had to keep it under wraps until the official announcement.
“I wanted to shout it from the rooftops the moment it was confirmed. It felt like such an overwhelming yet thrilling opportunity. But I knew it had to be revealed at the right time. So, it became this lovely little secret I carried with me.”

She added, “People kept asking me when my next Kannada project was, and I so badly wanted to tell them. Now that it’s finally out, it feels incredibly affirming and beautiful.”
