Iran Reviews US Response to 14-Point Plan Aimed at Ending Conflict

Tehran — Iran has confirmed that the United States has responded to its proposed 14-point plan aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the region. The response is currently under review, according to Esmaeil Baghaei.

Speaking to state-run IRIB, Baghaei clarified that Iran’s proposal is strictly focused on bringing an end to the war and does not include any provisions related to its nuclear programme.

He emphasised that Tehran’s immediate priority is de-escalation, including stabilising tensions in areas such as Lebanon, and reiterated that there are currently no negotiations taking place on nuclear issues—a key concern for Washington.

Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is intended for peaceful purposes, despite international concerns over its uranium enrichment levels.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has been actively engaging in diplomatic outreach. In separate conversations, he briefed his counterparts in Oman and Germany—Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi and Johann Wadephul—on Iran’s efforts to push for peace and reduce hostilities.

The current conflict escalated following joint military strikes by Israel and the United States on Tehran and other cities earlier this year. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and US-linked assets across the region.

Although a ceasefire came into effect on April 8, subsequent talks between Iranian and US representatives in Islamabad failed to produce a breakthrough, leaving the situation fragile.

As diplomatic efforts continue, the focus remains on whether the latest exchange between Tehran and Washington can pave the way for a more lasting resolution.
