Canada Flags Khalistani Extremism as Security Threat in Latest Intelligence Report

Ottawa — Canada’s premier intelligence agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), has identified Khalistani-linked elements as a form of violent extremism in its latest public report, highlighting growing concerns over national security.

According to the assessment, a small but persistent group of Canada-based Khalistani extremists continues to operate within the country, allegedly using it as a base for propaganda, fundraising, and planning violent activities. While no such incidents were recorded ???? Canada over the past year, CSIS cautioned that the ongoing involvement of these groups in politically motivated violence remains a serious threat to Canadian interests.

The report also raises alarm over the misuse of community platforms by such elements to generate funds that could be diverted toward extremist causes. It underscores the complexity of distinguishing between legitimate advocacy and activities that may cross into support for violence.

Beyond this, CSIS highlighted broader concerns about foreign interference in Canada’s democratic processes. Countries such as China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan were named as key actors employing sophisticated tactics to influence politics and public opinion.

These methods reportedly include espionage recruitment through front companies, disinformation campaigns amplified by artificial intelligence and social media, and even transnational repression targeting critics abroad. The report warns that such coordinated efforts aim to weaken institutional trust, disrupt democratic systems, and exploit social divisions within Canadian society.

The findings have sparked calls for stronger action, including tighter scrutiny of foreign funding, stricter enforcement against transnational threats, and greater transparency around interference attempts. The report emphasizes that addressing these challenges will require decisive policy responses and political consensus to safeguard Canada’s democratic values and national security.
