Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd reported a strong performance in August, with overall auto sales rising 42 per cent year-on-year to 1,07,648 vehicles, including exports, as demand remained robust across its key segments.
The company said domestic utility vehicle (UV) sales climbed 50 per cent year-on-year to 59,257 units in August. Including exports, total UV sales stood at 61,167 units, highlighting continued strength in Mahindra's SUV portfolio.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales also registered healthy growth, rising 22 per cent to 27,415 units. Exports provided an additional boost, increasing 71 per cent year-on-year to 6,054 vehicles during the month.
“Demand continues to remain strong across our portfolio, with the updated Scorpio-N and BE 6 SPORTEQ receiving strong market response from customers. We look forward to building on this momentum during the festive season,” said Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
The company's performance comes ahead of India's crucial festive buying season, traditionally an important period for automobile manufacturers. Strong demand for SUVs, along with growth in exports and commercial vehicles, has helped Mahindra maintain its sales momentum.
The company's year-to-date numbers also point to sustained growth in the utility vehicle segment. Domestic UV sales reached 2,94,050 units, compared with 2,41,337 units during the corresponding period a year earlier, representing a 22 per cent increase.
Within commercial vehicles, light commercial vehicles (LCVs) weighing below 2 tonnes recorded sales of 3,999 units in August, up 37 per cent year-on-year. Sales of LCVs in the 2–3.5 tonne category rose 20 per cent to 23,416 units.
Three-wheeler sales, including electric models, also performed strongly, increasing 42 per cent year-on-year to 14,922 units.
Mahindra's August numbers followed a 26 per cent year-on-year increase in overall auto sales in July, when the company sold 1,03,860 vehicles, including exports.
The company also enters the current period with a strong track record from the previous financial year. FY2026 ended with record volumes of 6,60,276 SUVs and 2,89,597 light commercial vehicles below 3.5 tonnes. The two segments registered year-on-year growth of 20 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively.
The Farm Equipment Business has also shown positive momentum. In June 2026, domestic tractor sales stood at 58,177 units, marking a 12 per cent year-on-year increase.
With SUV demand remaining strong and commercial vehicle and export sales also growing, Mahindra is looking to carry its momentum into the festive season, when automobile purchases typically receive a significant boost.
