

United Nations- A total of 651 Indian Army personnel serving with the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been honoured with the United Nations Medal in recognition of their dedicated service in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The medals were presented during a ceremonial Medal Parade held on Friday at the Permanent Operating Base Sake. The event was attended by senior MONUSCO officials, representatives from the Force Headquarters, military commanders and other distinguished guests.
The honour recognises the professionalism, operational excellence and unwavering commitment displayed by the Indian contingent while serving under one of the United Nations' most challenging peacekeeping missions.
According to the Indian Army, the peacekeepers have been operating in a highly volatile environment marked by persistent armed violence and complex humanitarian challenges. Despite these conditions, they have consistently carried out their responsibilities with courage and dedication.
The Army said the Indian contingent has played a vital role in protecting civilians, strengthening security, facilitating humanitarian assistance and supporting the implementation of the UN mandate in conflict-affected areas.
It added that the award reflects the Indian Army's long-standing reputation as one of the United Nations' most dependable contributors to peacekeeping operations around the world.
The Army also said the recognition highlights India's enduring commitment to international peace and security, as well as its resolve to safeguard vulnerable communities caught in conflict.
The ceremony concluded with the Indian peacekeepers reaffirming their commitment to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and selfless service while serving under the UN's Blue Flag. The Army said their dedication continues to strengthen India's legacy as a trusted force for global peace.
