

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to devotees embarking on the annual Amarnath Yatra, wishing them a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling journey to the holy cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
Marking the beginning of this year's pilgrimage, the Prime Minister also issued an open letter urging pilgrims to follow five key resolutions focused on cleanliness, safety, environmental protection, support for local communities and national development.
In a post on X, PM Modi described the Amarnath Yatra as an enduring symbol of India's spiritual heritage and cultural unity. He said he prayed for the safe and successful journey of all devotees visiting Baba Barfani and shared his message highlighting the five resolutions.

Addressing pilgrims in his letter, the Prime Minister said participating in the Amarnath Yatra is a deeply sacred opportunity for devotees. He noted that the annual pilgrimage begins with the traditional Pratham Puja on Jyeshtha Purnima and attracts lakhs of Shiva devotees from across India and around the world.
He said the pilgrimage reflects India's rich spiritual traditions and showcases the country's unity in diversity, as people from different regions, languages and cultural backgrounds come together with a shared devotion to Lord Shiva.
PM Modi also praised the efforts of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, the Jammu and Kashmir administration and security agencies for ensuring the smooth and secure conduct of the Yatra. He expressed gratitude to the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Border Security Force, National Disaster Response Force, doctors, medical personnel, sanitation workers and all others serving the pilgrims.
Highlighting the role of local communities, the Prime Minister said the Yatra also reflects the hospitality of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that residents warmly welcome pilgrims, while volunteers from across the country organise community kitchens (Bhandaras), embodying the spirit of selfless service and the Sanatan ideal of "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" (May all be happy).

Expressing confidence in the success of this year's pilgrimage, the Prime Minister said the Amarnath Yatra would continue to strengthen the values of Sanatan faith, national unity and selfless service. He prayed that the blessings of Baba Amarnath inspire devotees with renewed energy, spiritual strength and a deeper commitment to serving the nation.
