

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday appointed 1,042 intermediate and graduate-trained assistant teachers for government schools across the state, calling on them to play a vital role in strengthening the public education system and shaping the future of young students.
The appointment letters were distributed at a programme held at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Ranchi. Addressing the newly recruited teachers, the Chief Minister said they had been entrusted with the responsibility of building the next generation, describing teaching as one of the most important professions in society.
Congratulating the appointees, Soren said teachers are instrumental in shaping children's personalities and creating an informed and progressive society. He noted that concerns are often raised about the quality of education in government schools and urged the new recruits to earn the trust of people through dedication, discipline and sincere service.


He said education is the foundation of social transformation and that only a well-educated society can ensure sustainable development and positive change.
In a message shared on X, the Chief Minister appealed to the teachers to act as the government's "eyes and ears," particularly in remote and rural areas, by promoting education, social awareness and communal harmony.
Out of the 1,042 appointments, 274 assistant teachers have been posted for primary classes (Classes I to V), while 768 graduate-trained assistant teachers will teach students from Classes VI to VIII.
Among the graduate-trained teachers, 387 have been appointed in social science, 231 in mathematics and science, and 150 in language subjects.
Palamu received the highest number of appointments with 123 teachers, followed by Giridih (92), Koderma (81), Sahibganj (63), West Singhbhum (61), Deoghar (59), Dumka (54), Godda (53) and Pakur (51).
Other districts include Dhanbad (42), Latehar (41), East Singhbhum and Jamtara (39 each), Ranchi (36), Saraikela-Kharsawan and Garhwa (34 each), Gumla (27), Bokaro (24), Simdega (21), Hazaribagh (15), Khunti (12), Lohardaga (11) and Ramgarh (4).
Radha Krishna Kishore, along with senior officials from the School Education and Literacy Department, attended the appointment ceremony.
