Jamshedpur: Jharkhand is set to experience a stretch of unstable and intense weather over the coming days, with forecasts pointing to thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and spells of heavy rain across several regions.
On May 4, north-eastern and nearby central parts of the state are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. Similar weather conditions may also occur at isolated places in other areas.
The situation is expected to worsen on May 5, particularly in south-eastern and central districts such as Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Bokaro, and Dhanbad. These regions may experience stronger thunderstorms, with wind speeds touching 50–60 kmph, along with heavy rainfall and even chances of hailstorms. Other parts of the state may also see moderate thunderstorm activity.
Between May 6 and May 7, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are likely to continue at isolated locations, keeping weather conditions unsettled.
Meteorologists attribute this pattern to an upper air cyclonic circulation over east Madhya Pradesh and nearby areas, extending up to 1.5 km above sea level. Additionally, a trough stretching from south Chhattisgarh to Manipur is intensifying the system further.
Residents have been advised to stay cautious, avoid open areas during lightning, and take necessary safety measures during this prolonged spell of rough weather.
