Israel claims Iran’s IRGC intelligence chief killed in Tehran airstrike

Tel Aviv— The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday said it had carried out a targeted airstrike in Tehran, killing Majid Khatem-Hosseini Khadami, who it identified as the head of intelligence of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In a statement, the IDF described Khadami as one of the Revolutionary Guards’ most senior commanders, with extensive experience in military and security operations. It said the Israeli Air Force conducted the overnight strike based on precise intelligence inputs.

According to the IDF, Khadami had taken over the role following the assassination of Mohammad Khatami during an earlier operation. In his position, he was responsible for gathering strategic intelligence for Iran’s top leadership.

The Israeli military further alleged that Khadami played a key role in planning and supporting attacks against Israel and other international targets, and was also involved in monitoring Iranian citizens as part of efforts to suppress internal dissent.

Israel’s defence establishment said his killing would significantly weaken the IRGC’s command structure and its operational capabilities.

Separately, the IDF also claimed that it had eliminated Mohammad Reza Ashrafi Kahi, described as head of commerce at the IRGC’s Oil Headquarters in Tehran. According to Israel, Ashrafi oversaw multi-billion-dollar commercial operations that helped fund the IRGC’s military activities and supported allied groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.

There has been no immediate confirmation of these claims from Iran.
