Large amount of cash recovered from abandoned vehicle in Palamu

Ranchi: On Tuesday night at around 8:35 PM, the Superintendent of Police, Palamu, received a confidential tip-off about a suspicious red Jialo vehicle traveling from Daltonganj towards Panki. Acting on this information, the Station In-charge of Panki, Rajesh Ranjan, along with armed police forces, launched a search operation.

During the operation, the suspicious red vehicle (Registration No. CG14B-5999) was found parked near Tetarai Baliyari Morh village. Local residents informed the police that the vehicle had been standing there for quite some time, but no person was seen nearby. The vehicle was found locked. Subsequently, it was towed to the police station.

On August 20, 2025, in the presence of the police inspector of Panki area, the vehicle was unlocked and searched. Inside a bag placed under the middle seat, several plastic packets containing bundles of cash were recovered. The entire recovery process was documented through videography and photography. Using a cash counting machine arranged by CSP Panki, the total amount of cash was counted to be ₹46,19,900 (forty-six lakh nineteen thousand nine hundred rupees only).

Additionally, the vehicle’s front glove compartment yielded its insurance papers and registration certificate.

The cash recovered consisted of ₹500 notes totalling ₹44,88,000 from 8,976 notes, ₹200 notes totalling ₹1,01,800 from 509 notes, and ₹100 notes totalling ₹30,100 from 301 notes, making a total sum of ₹46,19,900. Necessary further investigation and action are underway.
