Leaders of JMM and Congress urge the Chief Minister to reconsider the imposition of 2 percent tax in market fee related bill

Ranchi: Senior leaders of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and members of State Coordination Committee Binod Kumar Pandey and Mr. Fagu Besra and State President of Indian National Congress Rajesh Thakur and President of Mahanagar Congress Kumar Raja met Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren and handed over a memorandum.

Through the memorandum, they urged the Chief Minister to reconsider the imposition of 2 percent tax in the bill
related to market fee. They told the Chief Minister that the people of the state and the country are already suffering from inflation due to the anti-people policies of the central government like an increase in GST etc.

In such a situation, there is a possibility of increasing the burden of inflation on the public due to the imposition of two percent tax in the bill related to market fee in the interest of the public so the government should reconsider it and take an appropriate decision.

The leaders informed the Chief Minister about the situation arising in the state due to the Jharkhand State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Bill-2022. They said that the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly has passed a bill related to market fee and the bill has also been approved by the Honorable Governor.

In this, trade of food grains and other essential commodities is done by the wholesalers of the state through the market committee. According to the information received in the said bill 2 percent tax has been imposed on the goods sold and bought through the market committee due to which there is a possibility of increase in the consumer price of all these goods. In such a situation, to give relief to the public and not have to bear the additional burden of inflation the government reconsider the imposition of 2 percent tax in the Market Fee Bill.
