Health Secretary writes to DC to be prepared for Malaria and Dengue

Ranchi: With unseasonal rainfall pounding the state for the last two days Principal Secretary of the Health Department Nitin Madan Kulkarni has written a letter to all the DCs asking them to stay alert for cases of Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya.

He said that due to rainfall in many areas unnecessary water logging takes place which provide breeding grounds to the mosquito who later act as carriers of many diseases. People suffering from Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya become physically weak. He said that on one hand the state is already battling Coronavirus on the other hand if Malaria and Dengue spread than the situation can become more horrific.

Mr Kulkarni has asked all the DCs to take necessary steps in this regard. He has asked the monitoring team for Covid-19 to provide RTC kit and medicines to tackle Malaria  so that tests can be performed and treatment can be done. He said that people complaining about headache, muscle pain, vomiting etc can be suspected patients of Dengue or Chikungunya. He has said that the blood samples of such patients should be sent to RIMS or MGM. On the other hand people complaining of dizziness and pain in neck might be suffering from Japanese Encephalitis.

He has asked the officials to ensure spray of insecticides and establish coordination with municipal bodies so that sanitisation can be done. He has also in them to make arrangements of fogging machines and insecticides so that in case of vector borne diseases fogging can be done.
