New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with US tech major Google to display authorised Aadhaar centres on Google Maps, a move aimed at improving access and convenience for citizens, the government said on Thursday.
According to an official statement, users will be able to locate Aadhaar centres based on the services offered—such as adult enrolment, child enrolment, or limited services like address and mobile number updates. The feature is expected to roll out in the coming months.
Details related to centre accessibility—including divyang-friendly infrastructure, availability of parking, and operating hours—will also be shown wherever applicable, further easing the process for residents, the statement from the Ministry of Electronics and IT said.
The collaboration seeks to enhance public convenience, curb misinformation, and provide seamless access to over 60,000 Aadhaar centres across the country, including modern Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs). The initiative will ensure that searches on Google Maps lead users to verified Aadhaar centres only.
“UIDAI is always focused on improving the ease of living for Aadhaar number holders. This collaboration will make navigating authorised Aadhaar centres simpler, faster and more transparent,” said Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO of UIDAI.
In the next phase, UIDAI will use Google Business Profile to manage centre information and respond directly to public feedback, helping build a more transparent and responsive service ecosystem. The partnership will also explore enabling direct appointment bookings through the Google Maps interface, allowing residents to plan visits more efficiently.
“By working with UIDAI to integrate verified Aadhaar centres, we are helping millions of residents find trusted services with confidence and bridging the gap between essential government infrastructure and the people who need it most,” said Roli Agarwal, Country Head, Strategic Partnerships at Google India.
