New Delhi — The government on Sunday launched the GoIStats mobile application, designed to provide stakeholders with seamless, real-time access to official statistical data anytime, anywhere.
Developed by the National Sample Survey Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the initiative marks a major step towards making government statistics more accessible, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
The GoIStats app reflects NSO's vision of creating a comprehensive, user-centric data ecosystem for the country.
The app features an interactive "Key Trends" dashboard that presents vital socio-economic indicators with dynamic visualizations, covering key metrics such as GDP, inflation, and employment figures.
Through the "Products" section, users can directly access NSO's database, enabling one-click CSV downloads. The app also offers advanced search and filtering options, mobile-optimized data tables, and comprehensive metadata to enhance the user experience, according to the ministry.
The app’s visual storytelling tools include an infographic section that simplifies complex data into easily understandable insights, interactive charts and graphs with contextual explanations, and social media sharing features to promote data literacy. Every visualisation includes full source attribution, reinforcing transparency and reliability.
In addition, the app provides quick access to NSO's reports and publications, with instant download options.
The platform offers regular updates aligned with NSO’s publication schedule, along with push notifications to keep users informed. It also features a feedback mechanism for continuous improvement, a user-friendly interface, and direct communication options via the "Contact Us" section.
Currently, the Android version of GoIStats is available for free on the Google Play Store, while the iOS version will be launched soon.
“This initiative completes the ideal digital bouquet of a website, portal, and mobile app that citizens expect from a data-producing organisation. GoIStats empowers every Indian to engage with official data, fostering greater citizen participation in building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India),” the ministry stated.
