Anupamaa Actress Adrija Roy Shares Her Janmashtami Plans and the Krishna Teachings That Inspire Her

As Janmashtami approaches, ‘Anupamaa’ actress Adrija Roy has shared how she plans to celebrate the festival with her family and reflected on the teachings of Lord Krishna that have influenced her outlook on life.

In an interaction with IANS, Adrija said that she prefers keeping the festival simple and meaningful. For her, Janmashtami is less about elaborate rituals and more about spending time with family, participating in prayers and taking a moment to connect with the deeper significance of the occasion.

“I like celebrating Janmashtami with my family. I enjoy the festive atmosphere and the prayers. I don't follow a very complicated ritual, but I do try to take some time out for the festival and connect with its meaning,” she said.

Among Krishna's teachings, Adrija particularly relates to the idea of concentrating on one's efforts rather than becoming overly concerned about the outcome. She said this philosophy helps her maintain perspective in her professional life.

“I try to follow that in my own life. You cannot control everything that happens, but you can control how much effort you put in. So, I try to focus on my work and give it my best. If the result is good, I am happy, and if it doesn't go my way, I try to learn from it and move on,” she said.

The actress also spoke about making difficult choices and following what she believes is right, even when the easier option may appear more attractive.

“Yes, there have been situations where I have had to make choices that were not easy. Sometimes the easier option is very tempting, but if your heart is telling you that something is not right, you have to listen to that. It may be difficult in that moment, but you feel better about yourself later,” Adrija said.

For her, the story of Krishna also carries a message of hope and resilience. She believes that difficult periods are temporary and that maintaining faith can help people navigate uncertain phases of life.

“I think that is one of the most beautiful things about Krishna’s story. Life will have difficult phases, but they don't last forever. You have to keep faith and keep moving. Sometimes you may not know what is going to happen next, but you still have to believe that things will get better,” she added.

Adrija said she is particularly inspired by Krishna's ability to take on different roles depending on what people around him needed. She highlighted his qualities as a friend, guide and leader, saying that his understanding of people is something she deeply admires.

“I really like the way Krishna could be a friend, a guide, and a leader at the same time. He understood people and knew when they needed advice and when they simply needed someone to stand by them. That quality really inspires me,” she concluded.

For Adrija, therefore, Janmashtami is not only a festival of devotion and celebration but also an opportunity to revisit values such as effort, faith, courage and compassion — principles that she says continue to guide her both personally and professionally.
