JMM demands cancelling of candidature of BJP’s Garhwa MLA

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has demanded the Election Commission to cancel the candidature of BJP’s Garhwa candidate Satyendra Nath Tiwari after one of the campaign vehicles used by him was seized with cash worth nearly Rs 30 lakh.

Addressing a press conference here JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the vehicle seized by the ACB is only one of the many vehicles which are being operated in the entire constituency despite the election commission fixing only Rs 28 lakh as poll expenditure limit.

He said that the seizure of such amount of unaccounted money belonging to a particular candidate and the campaign vehicle was a small example to show how much money was being used by the BJP and its candidates to lure the voters.

Mr Bhattcharya also pointed the example of how from the house of a BJP leader Rajkumari Devi cash worth Rs 2.50 crore along with gold and silver were recovered and pointed that her residence was located in Sakchi which is part of Jamshedpur East from where Chief Minister Raghubar Das is a candidate. The JMM leader claimed that she was being protected by state leaders of the BJP.

He said that the party has also written a letter to the Election Commission to cancel the candidature of Mr Tiwari and remove him from the election process after the recovery of cash from his campaign vehicle.
