
Ranchi: The four day long festival of Chhath Mahaparv concluded in the state after devotees offering arghya to the rising sun.
On Saturday the devotees had reached to their nearest water banks including Ponds river and dams were they offered arghya to the setting sun.
As part of the festival various Chhath Puja organising committees had erected various amenities at the river banks including arrangements of lighting, drinking water, changing rooms and also distributed coconuts and sugarcane.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das celebrated the festival in Jamshedpur where he offered Arghya at the Sidhgoda Surya Mandir. In his message Mr Das said that Chhath was a festival which symbolises purity and cleanliness. He prayed to the sun god to bring prosperity and well being in the lives of the people of the state.
On Friday the ritual of Kharna was performed in which devotees took bath in the holy waters in their nearby water bodies after which they performed Kharna in which devotees prepared Kheer made from milk rice and jaggery. The Kheer was later distributed among the family members friends and relatives as prasad after which the devotees had observed the 36 hour long fast which they broke on Sunday.
The festival had commenced from Thursday with Nahai Khai where the devotees had taken bath and consumed food prepared by rice dal and pumpkin.
