Bamboo industry is a medium for economic empowerment: CM

Dumka: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the state government was trying to further enhance the skills of the artisans of the state so that their products can reach to the foreign markets.

Interacting with the workers during his visit to a bamboo factory in Jama block of this district he said that the Industries Department was working round the clock in this regard and lauded its initiative of providing latest machines and technology to women bamboo artisans of the Santhal Pargana region.

He said that through the selling bamboo manufactured products people will be able to come out of poverty as it will lead to an increase in their income.

The Chief Minister said that doubling the income of the farmers was the priority for his government as it would strengthen the economy. He said that there were numerous opportunities in the bamboo industry sector, therefore, production of goods manufactured from bamboo should be increased and added that bamboo was found in surplus in the state.

He said the setting of bamboo-based industries is a better means for development and also a good opportunity to make the women empowered. He said that the women did not depend on others as by indulging in manufacturing of bamboo products they can increase their income and pointed that maximum number of bamboo artisans in the state wherein the Santhal Pargana region.

The Chief Minister said that it was a matter of pride that the products manufactured in this plant is being exported outside. He said that the women of the state where hard working and dedicated whether it was the area of agriculture or animal husbandry as it is the women who in agriculture do all the works right from the sowing to the cutting of the crops and in animal husbandry also women do all the work and pointed those tribal women were not only ahead in poultry but also in other sectors.

The Chief Minister went through the products which were being manufactured at the plant and also interacted with the workers. The workers said that the work has helped to increase their income and with the use of modern technology and machines their work has become much easier.

Mr Das said that in future bamboo products will be used more in the country and across the world. Those present on the occasion included Welfare Minister Louis Marandi Dumka MP Sunil Soren Secretary Industries K Ravi Kumar Director Industries Kripanand Jha, DIG Rajkumar Lakra, Dumka DC Rajeshwari B and SP Y S Ramesh.
