The Ranchi Municipal Corporation is exploring plans to develop a vending zone, commercial shops and public amenities on government-owned land in Kusai, as part of efforts to protect public property, prevent encroachment and put vacant land to productive use.

Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav inspected the Kaisar-e-Hind land in Kusai Mauza under Ward No. 46 on October 23. The plot, recorded under Khata No. 38 and Plot No. 14, covers approximately 1 acre and 15 decimals.

During the inspection, Gaurav directed the corporation's engineering wing to assess the area's population, local requirements and available resources before preparing a comprehensive development plan.

The proposed plan will examine the feasibility of setting up a designated vending zone and commercial shops alongside public welfare facilities. The initiative aims to improve local amenities while creating livelihood opportunities for street vendors, traders and other residents.

### Riverside Pathway and Lighting Also Under Consideration

The Municipal Commissioner also instructed officials to prepare proposals for constructing a pathway along the adjoining riverbank, filling and levelling the land, installing high-mast lights and undertaking landscaping.

These proposed improvements are intended to make the site more organised, accessible and suitable for public use. Their implementation will depend on the development plan and subsequent decisions by the corporation.

Gaurav said protecting government land and ensuring its systematic use for public benefit remained a priority for the municipal body. He stressed that development proposals should take into account residents' needs, public utility and the overall development of the locality.

He also reiterated that action against illegal encroachment on government land would continue in accordance with the law.

Ward councillor Aarti Kumari, an assistant municipal commissioner, an executive engineer and other concerned municipal officials accompanied Gaurav during the inspection.

The inspection marks an initial step towards assessing the site's development potential. A detailed plan will be needed to establish the final scope of the project and determine which proposed facilities can be taken up.
