Ranchi traffic police conducted a road safety awareness campaign at Kantatoli Chowk on Monday, urging motorists and pedestrians to follow traffic rules and adopt safer road habits. The campaign featured ‘Pratap’, an archery mascot used to convey the message of responsible driving and road safety.
During the drive, traffic police officers and personnel appealed to two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, obey traffic signals and road markings, and drive in the designated direction. Commuters were also cautioned against using mobile phones while driving, a practice that can distract motorists and increase the risk of accidents.
The police stressed that following traffic regulations is essential to preventing road accidents and protecting human lives. They urged citizens to make road safety a daily priority rather than treating traffic rules as a mere formality.
Through the mascot-led initiative, the department sought to make road safety messaging more engaging and accessible to the public. Officials appealed to all road users to remain alert, drive cautiously and consider the safety of others while travelling.
The campaign highlighted the importance of responsible road behaviour, particularly helmet use among two-wheeler riders and avoiding distractions behind the wheel, as key steps towards reducing preventable accidents in Ranchi.
