
Ranchi: DC Rai Mahimpet Rey chaired the meeting of the central peace committee over the twin festivals of Karma and Muharram. Addressing the meeting Mr Rey said that the purpose of the festivals is to bring prosperity and said that Ranchi in every festival has demonstrated brotherhood and harmony.
He said that the district administration is fully geared up to ensure that the people celebrate the festival without any trouble. He said that it was the second occasion when the Prime Minister was coming to launch a scheme from the capital, therefore, the people should celebrate both the festivals with peace and brotherhood and welcome the Prime Minister.
SSP Anish Gupta said that all people needed to understand their moral responsibility. He said that since the identity of the city is with the people, therefore, they should sort out problems amicably and directed to chalk out the route plan.
He also asked them to use social media wisely and warned of strict action against objectionable posts and said that all group admin should give attention and incase of objectionable posts the police and administration should be immediately informed. He said that to maintain law and order in the city CCTV cameras have been set up and officials have been deployed. He asked the members not to fall prey to rumours and said that strict action will be taken if anyone takes the law in their hands.
The SSP said they should give t-shirts to their volunteers so that they can be identified easily and said that to take on the anti social elements people themselves should remain alert and directed to form the WhatsApp group of volunteers and give them identity cards and also submit the list in the police station and said that the change in traffic plans will be published in the newspapers.
The members of the peace committees said that the feelings of each other will be considered while celebrating the festival. They said that they were satisfied with the arrangements which were made last year by the district administration and hope for the same this year.
Those present in the meeting also included Jai Singh Yadav, Rajeev Ranjan Mishra, Masom Gadi, Ramdhan Burman. Others included SDO Lokesh Mishra, SP City Harilal Chouhan, SP Rural Ashutosh Shekhar and others.
