16.20 lakh trees planted on 408 kilometer of river banks in 2018-19: Chaturvedi

Ranchi: Additional Chief Secretary of the forest and environment department Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi said that protection of the wild animals and Environment protection feature among the priority list of the state government.

Addressing a Press Conference at the Suchna Bhawan here he said that in the last 4.5 years on large scale plantation drive has been undertaken in the state and a ban has been put on cutting of trees located at the border areas of the forests.

He said that since 2015 so far 12.09 crore plants have been planted due to which the forest cover in the state has increased to 33.21 percent therefore for the first time Jharkhand has been able to meet the targets of national forest policy.
