Congress workers should draw inspiration from the ideals of tribal leader, educationist and social reformer Kartik Oraon and work towards the educational, social and economic development of tribal communities, said Gumla District Congress Committee president Rajneel Tigga.

Tigga was speaking during a tribute programme organised at Lita Toli village, the birthplace of Kartik Oraon, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. He paid floral tributes at the memorial and to the statues and portraits of Kartik Oraon and his wife, Sumati Oraon.

Describing Kartik Oraon as a prominent figure in Jharkhand and a strong voice for tribal communities across the country, Tigga said the leader was popularly known as the “Black Diamond”. He noted that Oraon had dedicated his life to improving the educational, social and economic conditions of tribal people.

His vision, struggles and commitment to social welfare continue to inspire people, Tigga said, adding that Oraon believed education and awareness were essential to strengthening society.

According to Tigga, Kartik Oraon consistently encouraged tribal communities to remain aware of their rights, maintain unity and pursue development while preserving their identity. He urged Congress workers to put these principles into practice and work for the welfare of underprivileged and needy sections of society.

Tigga said Kartik Oraon’s birth anniversary should not be limited to remembering his contributions but should also serve as an occasion to renew the commitment to building a Jharkhand in keeping with his vision.

He called upon party workers to continue working for social harmony, education, equality and the protection of tribal rights, following the ideals advocated by the late leader.

District Congress Committee general secretaries Shahjahan Ansari, Rafi Ali and Sagir Alam, along with city Congress president Jai Singh, were among those present at the programme. They also paid tribute to Kartik Oraon and recalled his contributions to tribal society.
