Authorities in Deoghar district have imposed prohibitory restrictions around all 45 examination centres in the Deoghar and Madhupur subdivisions to ensure the smooth and malpractice-free conduct of the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026 on November 1.
The order, issued on the directions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Saurabh Kumar, will be enforced within a 500-metre radius of each examination centre from 6 am to 6 pm on the day of the examination. Of the 45 designated centres, 35 are located in the Deoghar subdivision and 10 in Madhupur.
According to the examination schedule, the test for candidates seeking eligibility to teach Classes VI to VIII will be conducted in the first shift, from 9.30 am to noon. The examination for the primary level, covering Classes I to V, will take place in the second shift, from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
Under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), gatherings of five or more people will be prohibited within the designated restricted areas. Carrying firearms, weapons and other dangerous objects will also be banned. Unauthorised individuals will not be allowed to enter examination centres or loiter in their vicinity.
The restrictions further prohibit unauthorised persons from using electronic devices, including mobile phones, cameras and smartwatches, within the restricted areas. Cultural programmes near examination centres will not be permitted to use loudspeakers without prior approval from the competent authority.
The administration has also warned of legal action against individuals found engaging in suspicious activities in buildings near examination centres or attempting to assist candidates in cheating or otherwise compromise the integrity of the examination.
The prohibitory order will remain effective for 12 hours, from 6 am to 6 pm on November 1. Violations will invite strict legal action. However, the restrictions will not apply to funeral processions, hospitals, religious places, educational institutions, candidates appearing for the examination, or officials, staff and magistrates assigned examination duties.
