Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha has directed education officials to address shortcomings in government schools across Deoghar, with a focus on improving student learning outcomes, ensuring regular attendance and strengthening basic infrastructure.

The directions were issued during a district-level education review meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium on Monday. Sinha assessed block-wise progress on key educational indicators, student enrolment, the Project Rail initiative and the issuance of APAAR identification numbers to eligible students.

Emphasising the need for measurable improvements in classroom performance, the DDC asked officials to identify schools reporting low student attendance and take timely corrective action. He also stressed the importance of monitoring teacher attendance regularly and taking appropriate action against teachers and staff found negligent in their duties.

Focus on Digital Learning and School Facilities

The meeting also reviewed the availability of ICT laboratories, smart classrooms and other digital learning facilities. Sinha instructed officials to identify infrastructure gaps and resolve them promptly to ensure students have better access to technology-assisted education.

He further called for block-level corrective measures in areas where the district was lagging behind in educational rankings and key performance indicators. Officials were asked to prioritise pending tasks and ensure that eligible students receive the benefits of relevant educational schemes and initiatives without unnecessary delays.

Highlighting the importance of a safe and supportive learning environment, the DDC directed education officials to ensure that schools have functional toilets, adequate drinking water, clean premises and necessary repairs. He also called for the construction of boundary walls wherever required to improve school safety.

The review meeting underscored the need for closer monitoring and coordinated action by district and block-level officials to improve the overall quality of school education in Deoghar.

Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, the District Education Superintendent and other district and block-level education officials attended the meeting.
