Deoghar DC reviews SC/ST cases, directs officials to speed up relief and compensation

Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuwania on Monday reviewed cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and directed officials to expedite pending investigations and ensure timely relief and compensation to victims.

The district-level Vigilance-cum-Monitoring Committee meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner. Dumka MP Nalin Soren also attended the meeting along with committee members and officials from various departments.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and the amended Rules of 2016. Officials also discussed the progress of cases at different stages of the legal process and the status of relief and compensation for victims.

Bhuwania directed police and prosecution officials to speed up investigations in pending cases and ensure that the legal proceedings are completed without unnecessary delay.

He also instructed the Welfare Department to ensure that eligible victims receive relief and compensation within the prescribed time limit.

The Deputy Commissioner said safeguarding the rights of members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and ensuring timely access to justice should remain a priority for the district administration.

The meeting also discussed coordination among the departments concerned to ensure effective implementation of the provisions of the Act and timely action in cases involving victims and their families.

Dumka MP Nalin Soren, representatives of ministers and MLAs, committee members, the District Welfare Officer, Headquarters DSP, ADSS, Assistant Public Relations Officer and other officials were present at the meeting.
