18-Year-Old Shot in Tapovan Hills Following Alleged Money Dispute

An 18-year-old man was allegedly shot and injured following a dispute over money near Madhwa Adda pond in the Tapovan hills under Mohanpur police station area. The injured youth, identified as Umesh Kumar Yadav of Tapovan Jamua, is undergoing treatment at Deoghar Sadar Hospital.

According to Umesh’s statement recorded by Kunda police Sub-Inspector Prashant Kumar on September 26, the incident took place on September 25. Umesh said he was at home around 8 a.m. when Sudhanshu Kumar, also 18, arrived on a black motorcycle and asked him to accompany him to Tapovan.

Umesh told police that about a kilometre from there, they met Subhash Kumar Mandal near Kishanidih More and took him along. The three then reached a hut near Madhwa Adda pond in the Tapovan hills, where they reportedly spent around two hours having soft drinks and snacks.

Umesh alleged that Subhash and Sudhanshu subsequently demanded money from him. When he said he did not have any money, Subhash allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired at him.

The bullet struck Umesh in the right thigh and exited from the other side, according to his statement. He alleged that the two men then fled from the spot on the motorcycle, leaving him injured.

Umesh said he remained at the hut for some time before making his way home at around 6 p.m. and informing his parents about the incident. He was subsequently taken to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Police have recorded the injured youth’s statement and initiated further action. The allegations against the two named youths are subject to police investigation.
