Five Arrested in Deoghar for Posing as Customer Care, Bank Officials

A phone call from someone claiming to be a customer care executive can appear harmless, especially when the caller offers to resolve a banking issue, provide cashback or reactivate a blocked card. But in several cases, police allege that such calls were part of a carefully planned cyber-fraud operation.

Deoghar police have arrested five people for allegedly running a fake customer care scam in which victims were targeted through fraudulent calls and online payment methods.

The arrests were made on September 23 following confidential information received by the police. The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar and Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (Cyber Crime) Kailash Prasad Mahto.
