Bike Theft Gang Busted Near Ranchi Sadar Hospital, Four Stolen Motorcycles Recovered

Police have busted an alleged motorcycle theft gang operating around Ranchi Sadar Hospital, following a series of thefts reported from the hospital premises and surrounding areas. Six people have been arrested in connection with the case, while four stolen motorcycles have been recovered.

The arrests followed a special surveillance operation launched around Sadar Hospital on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police. Tiger Mobile personnel, PCR teams and Mikes deployed in the area were instructed to keep a close watch on suspicious activities, particularly in and around the hospital premises.

On September 6, 2026, police received information that a suspicious man was allegedly moving around the hospital campus looking for an opportunity to steal a motorcycle. After verifying the information, the police team detained him for questioning.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly provided information about other members of the group. Acting on the information, police conducted raids at different locations and recovered four motorcycles believed to have been stolen.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Irfan Ansari, Mohammad Kaish Alam, Mosin Rai, Imran Alam alias Bhalo, Mohammad Zafarulla and Saif Ansari alias Raj.

Police also arrested Shahid Rai during the raids. He was reportedly named as a non-FIR accused in a case dating back to 2021.

The four recovered motorcycles have registration numbers JH09AJ-8499, JH01DM-284, JH01BP-4092 and JH05DL-8507.

According to police, the investigation is continuing to determine whether the accused were involved in other motorcycle theft cases in Ranchi and whether additional stolen vehicles can be traced.

The operation was carried out by police officers from Lower Bazar police station along with armed personnel. The arrests are expected to help investigators establish how the alleged theft network operated and whether it had links with buyers or others involved in disposing of stolen motorcycles.

The accused are being sent to judicial custody as the investigation proceeds.
